Asherah

Editorial

According to Jewish Women’s Archive, Asherah was the third goddess of the Canaanite religion. Her primary role was that of a mother goddess. Canaanites associated her with sacred trees, which is also featured in the Israelite tradition. For information on this subject please refer to the links, there’s a lot!

There is a lot of interesting information out there about Asherah. To sum up what she meant to history, she symbolized the women figure in Canaanite religion. She was just as powerful if not even more than her creator (aka Ugarit).

Then came the musician – Some may say “the future” in dark EDM-like music. She has been making her splashes throughout the world, but just like most women in the world she doesn’t get enough attention and credit.

So if you’re reading this, I implore you to go ahead and listen to Asherah’s music whose links will be provided at the bottom of this article.

Who is Asherah?

Miami-based singer-songwriter, producer, and composer Ariel Morer, aka Asherah, has released her electronic pop debut Ephemeral EP. The song tells a highly personal story of the grief process through Morer’s haunting vocals and sound.

Prior to Asherah, Ariel worked closely with Grammy producer David Ruttenberg in her teens, seeing success as she was featured on Klaas’s “Lift Me Up” in 2016 through Universal France and Warner Music Germany. The song’s success bridged her into many huge festivals alongside M83, Flying Lotus, and many more.

Ephemeral by Asherah Review

I really like this production and I think I like it more than expected. The vocals for all the songs are haunting, but I would like Asherah to explore other types of vocal ranges. It would be nice to hear what else she could produce with her voice.

All-in-all, this was a very good EP and especially good for a debut. I would be overjoyed for her to build a huge following. Then again, if she wants to make music for a small loyal fanbase, I would be just as excited because I’d love to see that.

What’s Next for Asherah?

This being Asherah’s debut release, there’s no plan for a release in the near future yet there will definitely be more, so stay tuned!

Thank You Notes
