It takes a lot to make me dance, and when I do I make sure it’s when no one is looking. I don’t know what it is that makes me want to dance sometimes, but it usually depends on my mood at the moment.
She is Jules‘ Airplane Mode (EP) and Love Me (single) really get me in the mood to dance. Especially the songs R U Really Sorry? and More Than I’d Like To from the EP.
Something about the chill pop beats and catchy lyrics get you dancing in your place and never wanting the song to end, so you play it on repeat until it gets annoying.
It’s a great escape, and it’s something I and everyone needs during this pandemic.

Who is She is Jules?
Julianna Isabella Pollifrone grew up listening to a lot of classic rock with her dad, and always wanting to discuss the meaning of the lyrics during her car rides to and from summer camp. “I thought it was really cool how people could express themselves with lyrics and melodies,” she says.
When she learned how to play the guitar she was inspired by Taylor Swift. “Seeing a girl with a guitar and writing her own songs made me feel connected on a deeper level,” she says.
Today she has a wonderful fan base (formerly known as #julers) that genuinely care about her. She says they are loyal, honest, and will stand up for her when she’s too scared to.
My favorite season is fall, I am a coffee lover, songwriting geek, poetry lover, and I love my cat, Joey.

Inspiration Behind She Is Jules’ Music
The one thing I have to say is Airplane Mode is not as popular as I think it should! I legit am listening to this EP at least 5 times a day, and yet I haven’t gotten bored of it. It’s a solid production and quality songwriting, that’s basically what Jules is known for…
As a blogger, I love good songwriting and I love diving deep into those lyrics with musicians… Something I feel I have been straying away from I think. So here is part of the interview where I ask two solid questions about her songwriting.
What is You Do or You Don’t about?
“You Do or You Don’t” is about someone who can’t make up their mind whether they want to be with you or not-or at least saying they don’t want to be together but then showing all the signs that say otherwise.
What are your favorite lyrics you’ve ever written?
Ohhhh that’s a hard one. But if I had to pick, they’re from an unreleased song and the lyrics go “loving you is my best mistake”. I don’t write tons of songs about my current boyfriend haha, but in this specific song it reminds me of when we first began dating, and how we kind of became official “accidentally” haha. But that was the best “mistake” I ever made ๐
(Eclipse) was inspired by a line from Grey’s Anatomy where doctor Christina Yang turns to Meredith Grey before she leaves and says: ‘don’t let what he wants, eclipse what you need’.

What’s Next for She is Jules?
Jules says that she has been making mostly “fun pop music”, however really wants to explore her dark minimalist pop style. “I’ve already started experimenting in that area, but I want to definitely explore that genre more,” she says.
She also has been working on more collaborations, but will still be releasing her own music at the same time.

Thank You Notes
Thank you to Jules for staying in touch with me on Instagram. I found She is Jules through her song Love Me that she did with Cafe Disko, but little did I know that I would like her music this much.
